Position: Senior Systems Engineer – nano Imaging & Synchrotron Systems
Xradia Inc., a leading developer of 3D X-ray computed tomography solutions for imaging the micro- and nano-scale, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to focus on system level performance of X-ray imaging systems utilized by our customers at synchrotron facilities to perform research. This position will lead the development of these application specific microscopes from concept through delivery.
The candidate should have experience with developing capital equipment for microscopy/imaging applications and research experience developing x-ray imaging modes and systems. Experience with customer research environments will be useful.
Responsibilities
- Lead the system level development of x-ray microscopy products for Xradia's research oriented customers.
- Work closely with customers to define system configuration and performance specifications.
- Create documentation of design concepts and development of performance requirements.
- Develop plans and Gantt charts to manage projects from inception to delivery.
- Hands-on technical problem solving of integration issues, testing of system performance, and documentation for customer hand-off.
- Development tasks will include hardware, optics, software and application efforts to address customer requirements.
- Contribute to internal procedures, user manuals, release notes, applications notes.
- Occasionally attend or present at technical conferences and customer events.
- Development of IP and ability to write and guide patents through process.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience developing x-ray microscopy systems for research.
- Experience with x-ray optics and required optics infrastructure.
- Experience with software tools to control hardware, as well as means for data analysis and presentation.
- Demonstrated understanding of science and engineering principles and processes.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, collaboration skills.
- Ability to explain complex design issues, design patterns and new technology to team members.
- Strong customer-facing skills and strong desire to understand end-user applications.
- Ability to work effectively in and contribute to a team environment.
- Ability to handle the fast-paced, ever-changing demands of a high-tech startup.
Education/Training
Minimum M.S. in Physics, Science, Mathematics or related disciplines, PhD preferred or equivalent work experience
Location / Travel Requirement
Xradia Inc. is located in Concord, CA. Positions requires up to 15% travel for customer visits and system installations
