Position: Systems Engineer – nano Imaging

Xradia Inc., a leading developer of 3D X-ray computed tomography solutions for imaging the micro- and nano-scale, is seeking a Systems Engineer to focus on system integration, sub-assembly integration and testing, and final system performance characterization. This position will participate in the development and continuous improvement of Xradia's 3D-CT X-ray microscopes from concept through delivery. Level performance of X-ray imaging systems utilized by our customers at synchrotron facilities from concept through delivery. The candidate should have experience with developing capital equipment for microscopy/imaging applications.

The candidate should have experience with developing capital equipment for microscopy/imaging applications and research experience developing x-ray imaging modes and systems. Experience with customer research environments will be useful.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system level development of Xradia's high resolution 3D tomography x-ray microscope product.
  • Perform subassembly design, testing, debug and documentation for release to manufacturing.
  • Perform system level design, testing, debug and documentation for release to manufacturing.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical design tasks with team members in a concurrent engineering fashion.
  • Create documentation of theory of operation, design concepts and develop system level performance requirements.
  • Contribute to plan development and Gantt charts to manage projects from inception to delivery.
  • Hands-on technical problem solving are key responsibility in this position.
  • Contribute to internal procedures, user manuals, release notes, applications notes.
  • Occasionally attend or present at technical conferences and customer events.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S., M.S. or PhD in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related disciplines
  • Minimum 1 years of experience developing microscopy or metrology capital equipment
  • Experience with software tools to control hardware, as well as means for data analysis and presentation
  • Demonstrated understanding of science and engineering principles and processes
  • Ability to design and perform proof of principle experiments
  • Computer data acquisition and numeric data analysis skills
  • Proficiency with common high-tech instrumentation and diagnostic tools
  • Strong general laboratory skills and troubleshooting of complex electromechanical systems
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, collaboration skills
  • Ability to explain complex design issues, design patterns and new technology to team members
  • Strong customer-facing skills and strong desire to understand end-user applications
  • Ability to work effectively in and contribute to a team environment
  • Ability to handle the fast-paced, ever-changing demands of a high-tech startup

Education/Training

Minimum B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, M.S or PhD preferred or equivalent work experience

Location / Travel Requirement

Xradia Inc. is located in Concord, CA. Positions requires up to 15% travel for customer visits and system installations
